Evaluation for The Internet Video

Teacher Evaluation:

Aesthetics: Level Two-
Creativity: Level Two- Music/Video combined well
Technology: Level Two- Basic but used effectively however didn't upload to the blog
Understanding: Level Two- Some facts and information included
Production Values: Level Two- Pacing could be slower

WWW: Good effort Jasveen/Shivani - simple but effective
EBI: Include video that you've shot yourselves

Class Evaluation:
Aesthetics:

  • Basic editing
  • Information was too quick
  • Good music
  • Flowed well
Creativity:
  • Good music
  • Good use of effects
  • Creative
  • Simple
Technology
  • Good use of movie maker
  • A bit fast
  • Good effects and sound
Understanding:
  • Good information and facts
  • Not really clear
  • Facts went too fast
Production Values
  • Could have used a video
  • Facts/information were too fast
For each section we were scored a Level Two.

Self Evalutation:

WWW: I think that overall the presentation went very well as we answered two of the questions and made sure that it was going to be enjoyable to watch. We did this by adding music to the video and different types of effects.

EBI: We could have made the video a little bit longer and added more detailed to the two questions we did answer and could have answered the third. In addition, we should have made sure that the facts were on the screen for a longer time so the audience would have had more time to read the information and given them time to digest what they have just read.

Who do you trust?

  • A 2005 study by Sonia Livingstone and Magdalena Bober found that the majority of students trusted online information as much as they trusted information in printed books.
  • 38% of UK pupils aged 9-19 year olds never questioned the accuracy of online information and only 10% said they were skeptical of it.
  • 68% of 9-19 year olds who went online regularly had not been given any guidance about how to judge the accuracy of online information.
I think that the percentages would be a little higher because most people will just think the internet is correct and not bother checking another source to see if their information is correct that they have been give.

Criticisms: Pornography

  • One study of web searches found that approximately one in six queries to search engines were about sec in 1997, but by 2001 the figure had fallen to 1 in 12.
  • Tanya Byron in her review for the government on children's use of the internet and videogames (2008) reported that 57% of 9-19 year olds had come into contact with pornographic material online, 38% in the form of a pornographic pop-up advert
This could be bad for younger audiences as they are influenced very easily.
It is also bad for society as this is not something everyone is into and watches.

What is so special about the internet?

Why is the internet so special?

The internet is special as you are able to do anything. For example:

  • Communicate with others via social media
  • Watch videos
  • Post pictures
  • Read the news
  • Listen to music

The Internet Revolution

The things that the internet are slowly changing:

Communication
Community
Online safety
Privacy
Nature of information
Culture
Copyright
Business

The 'Information Revolution'

I agree with Briggs and Burke as everyone nowadays is relying on the internet rather than books for information. In addition, more people are communicating through the internet with other people on social media networks such as: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and many more.

What Castell means by the 'Information Age' is that more people are finding out information and posting in on the internet so everyone is able to read and know about it rather than it being in a book and hardly anyone knowing about it.

Penetration

In 2007, nearly 15 million households in the UK (61%) were connected and 84% of them had a broadband connection
(National Statistics 2007).

I think that more than 90% of the people in the class has a broadband connection.
The three reasons why it is higher than the figure above, is because people have adapted to use the internet more than they did before.
